A new housing development is under construction north of the city of Taipei, Taiwan. Known as Great Taipei New Town, the topography, soils and climate of the area present special challenges for erosion and re-vegetation.
Chuck Austin and Mike Harding were invited to the site by the Panvest Corporation to present various options for erosion and sediment control on the steep slopes within the development area. Assisted by Arthur Yang and Sean Gilbert of EcoTrends, Chuck and Mike conducted a morning classroom session. In the afternoon the group of developers and contractors took to the field to observe application of hydraulic methods tailored specifically to needs of the site.
In the months since the training session, the demonstrated practices have been implemented throughout the development area with much success.
