A large percentage of seeding for lawns, mining and highway reclamation is done by hydraulic mulching and tackifying. The process of hydraulic mulching uses a slurry of water, fiber mulch, fertilizer and tackifier mixed in a hydroseeder. The slurry is thoroughly mixed and then sprayed over the prepared seeded bed. The tackifier may be added to the slurry in the mixer or pre-blended with the fiber mulch. Tackifier acts as a "glue" to hold the fiber mulch in place over the seed bed until the seeds have sprouted and become established.
